About the Authors

Nicola Cairns, Business Improvement Manager

Nicola has over 12 years' experience in the HE and Public Health sectors managing a portfolio of improvement projects which have delivered a range of benefits in NHS patient care, HE student and staff experience, and secured institutional efficiencies. Nicola joined the University of Strathclyde in 2010 and is responsible for supporting change management and business improvement initiatives across the University which are aligned to the institutional strategy, and deliver operational efficiency gains and improved staff and student experience.

Heather Lawrence, Business Improvement Manager

Heather is responsible for designing and leading strategic continuous improvement. Since 2009, she has worked closely with senior leaders to deliver complex initiatives such as Postgraduate Admissions, MBA International Debt Recovery, and the publication 'Moving Forward: Implementing the Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children' launched at the UN. Heather holds a BA with Distinction in Business and Management Studies and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with Distinction from the University of Strathclyde.
